Caring for Your Zen Sleep Mat
Naturally low-maintenance — just a few simple habits keep it fresh for years.
⚠ Suitable Surfaces
Not recommended for direct use on polished wooden floors, tiles, or polished concrete. Carpet is fine in a clean, dry environment, provided it isn’t old or worn. For best results, we recommend a Tatami mat base — its natural straw construction (5.5cm thick) provides good aeration and insulation, though it isn’t guaranteed against heavy environmental moisture and needs its own periodic care. 3D mesh underlays are another good option for extra air circulation.
As the mat sits directly on the floor, ventilation depends on your specific environment — please assess your space for dryness and airflow before use, and monitor regularly.
Everyday Care
- Rotate weekly for even wear
- Air it out occasionally so it can breathe, especially if used directly on the floor
- Use a breathable mattress protector against spills and stains
- Spot clean only — a damp cloth and mild soap handles the occasional mark
- Keep your room ventilated, particularly in humid weather — a dehumidifier is a great tool for maintaining a consistently dry environment
- Sun the cover for freshness — undo the 3-sided zip, remove the cotton cover, and sun it separately. Do not sun the latex core directly, as direct UV exposure can damage the rubber.
Roll (don’t drag) when moving your mat, and good airflow keeps it mould-free — this isn’t covered under warranty, but it’s easily avoided.
Unboxing Your Zen Sleep Mat
Fresh out of the packaging, your mat may look a little shorter than expected — this is completely normal and simply due to the natural give of latex rubber after tight packing.
Give it a gentle lateral stretch with the palms of your hands, working along the length of the mat, and it will settle into its correct size within a short time. For best results, leave it to air out for a few hours before making the bed.
